There are many wonderful cacao varieties in Nicaragua for making chocolate but we have selected this particular one for its amazing flavor when brewed.

I have been drinking Crio Bru for several years. I use my electric water kettle to heat the water and let the Crete for 10 minutes. I love adding peppermint mocha creamer or hazelnut creamer to it. I drink it year-round. I wish I could find it in the stores. Harmon‘s grocery East carry it but it no longer does and it makes me sad.
I have tried it only once. Since I expected it to be a coffee replacement, I was sorely disappointed. I have not yet attempted to brew a cup of cacao to add milk and sugar like hot chocolate, but I am planning a ‘brewing party’ with the girls on the upcoming frosty night.
I enjoyed the beverage and I am intrigued by the taste.

The brewed cocoa was really delicious. I usually take my coffee sweet and creamy so prepared my cups the same way and was surprised at how chcocolate-forward it tasted. While it was not as sweet or creamy as hot cocoa, I still felt like I was drinking hot chocolate. My only complaint would be the prep because I use a Keurig at home and have an instant espresso machine at the office so having to brew or boil water and use a French press made prep time much longer than I’d like.
