I first bought Crio two year ago. I thought it would remind me of some of my experience in Ecuador and especially in Ambato, which it did. I generally only buy dark chocolate for myself. And this is dark stuff. I like the peppermint cacao the best, I think. The last order was hazelnut. It was on the more bitter side than I prefer. This time I bought toffee and vanilla. Toffee hits first and then chocolate. My kids say it all tastes like dirt - they’d know. If I were in the marketing department for Crio, I’d try to steer them away from coffee comparisons. I see no point in it. I’m not a coffee drinker and I wasn’t before I tried brewed cacao. I see the comps as a negative and have actually shopped around for alternatives that aren’t based on comparing one product against another.
