Delicious!
After years of trying different and ultimately very disappointing if not awful coffee substitutes, Crio Bru delivers. It’s very close in flavor to my mocha latte from Peet’s! Actually, it’s better because it doesn’t leave me jittery all day and up all night.
I like a very dark roast so I double the serving amount and heat my water to 210 F.
Since it needs to steep for ten minutes, I found an insulated French press that keeps it piping hot. I like a hot cup of Joe? Bru? Or maybe in this case, Bruce?
Doubling the amount does make it more costly per cup but, I find it very rich and satisfying; and that one cup is all I need.
I’ve tried French Roast, Peppermint, Pumpkin Spice, Hazelnut and Caramel. My favorites were the Hazelnut and Caramel with Peppermint as a fun alternate.
I did not care for the Pumpkin Spice. I love Pumpkin Lattes but, to my pallet, this was musty and more cinnamon forward. I added some nutmeg and a drop of vanilla which definitely improved the flavor.
I’m worried though that my favorites are all seasonal flavors. Hence, the four stars. I can see why pumpkin spice and peppermint may be seasonal but, caramel and hazelnut? Those need to be all year long.
Maybe Crio Bru would consider making at least the Hazelnut a year round option?? Pretty pls?
I have not tried this product in an automatic coffee maker.
Definitely will buy this again and again… even if I can’t always get my precious Hazelnut or Caramel 😅
