Honest Energy™

Brewed cacao contains theobromine, a naturally occurring stimulant found in cacao that can be more pleasant than caffeine. Unlike caffeine – which is harsh with a spike and following crash – theobromine works with your body, not against it, giving you a mild, long-lasting lift without making you feel nervous or jittery.

Superfood Packed with Nutrients

Enjoy the benefits of one of nature’s most amazing superfoods. Cacao is loaded with nutrients that can lower your acidity intake, boost your immune system, help you lose weight, and best of all help you feel great, increase focus, reduce stress, and sleep better.

Cacao Bean Origin

Volta River, Ghana.  Winding throughout the country, the Volta River gives shape to the lovely landscape of Ghana. The surrounding agricultural area is dotted with small, family-owned farms that produce the very best African cacao for Crio Bru. The dark, earthy-toned beans are carefully selected to enhance the full-bodied chocolate flavor, with hints of coconut and cinnamon.

A nice change from coffee

It was a pleasant diversion form coffee. Little caffeine so it is not a coffee replacement unless you want less caffeine. Not I! I actually thought a blend of 50% coffee and 50% Crio brew was excellent. It added a nice chocolate dimension. I could not drink it without sweetener by itself. Not that it was bitter, it isn't, I just missed the companion sweetness with cocoa. Using Stevia Clear Drops or Sugar-Free Salted Carmel syrup did it nicely.

Great addition

It smells and tastes great. It’s like hot chocolate without all the sugar and bad stuff. It wouldn’t replace my love for coffee flavors but it is a great addition to my morning routine.

Good, but won't replace coffee for me

First off, the smell is heavenly. If this were a potpourri, it would get 5 stars. I brewed it on it's own to try it, and that's when it started losing stars. IMO, it simply does not taste as good as coffee does when brewed. Since I didn't want to throw it away, I experimented a bit with mixing it with coffee, and I found that a 2:1 ratio of coffee to cacao (to which I add a little vanilla-flavored coconut milk creamer) gives me a rather tasty morning cup. So while I cannot recommend this as a replacement for coffee, I can certainly recommend it as an addition to coffee (and I personally prefer the dark roast to the light roast). I can't wait for next summer to try it cold brewed!
